Singapore-based Dr. Siddhant Arya recruits a superhumanly powerful Indian-born man named Rohit Mehra, who was given special powers by a blue-skinned alien named Jadoo, to build a computer that can forecast the future, which results in an accident that kills Rohit. When this news reaches Rohit's mother, Sonia, in India, she passes this on to Rohit's wife, Nisha, who has just given birth to a son named Krishna. However, Nisha, unable to handle this devastating news, passes away, leaving Krishna to be brought up by Sonia. When Krishna is enrolled in school, she notices that he has the same intellectual and physical powers that his father possessed, so in order to shield him from any harm, she moves to a secluded and remote area in a mountainous region of the country, where he grows up. Years later, Krishna has matured, has acquired the same special powers that his father had, and is also able to communicate with animals. He meets with a camper named Priya and is attracted to her. When she returns home to Singapore, she phones him to visit her so that she can introduce him to her mother so that they can get married. A thrilled Krishna travels to Singapore, despite Sonia's pleas; meets with Priya; and is all set to meet her mother, get married, and return home. What Krishna does not know is that Priya has lured him there so that she can exploit his superhuman powers on her TV network, Star Plus--and not only maintain her job but also get a promotion. It looks like the naïve and overly trusting Krishna may now be propelled straight into the hands of Dr. Arya, who is still alive and on the verge of creating a supercomputer that can forecast the future--and is quite capable of doing anything in his power to achieve this nefarious goal and project himself as the one and only God of the universe

It is the year 1999 and Karan Shergill (Hrithik Roshan) has been recently posted in the Siachen region of Kashmir, near the Indo-Pak border. As he bonds with his fellow officers and gets to know more about the region under their supervision, he reminisces about his previous life: how, as a good-for-nothing youngster, he had become a black sheep of their family, how he had took the entrance exam for Indian Military Academy purely out of a whim, how the harsh training had caused him to run away and return home, and how the decision had resulted into a breakup with his girlfriend Romila "Romi" Dutta (Preity Zinta) and how he had returned to the Academy, finished his training and emerged a winner. But there isn't much time left to dwell upon the past, as terrorists have crossed the Line Of Control and occupied a few key peaks to serve as attack points. The Indian Defense retaliates and thus begins Operation Vijay, a mission to reclaim the terrorist-captured points before it is too late. Karan is thrown amidst heated battle to capture an important peak, and he knows it very well that this might just be a great chance to serve his country and look the world in its face. Written by Soumitra

A stamp of love: Tattoos say it all

Move over Saif and Hrithik! Lucknow youngsters are now getting names of their beloveds inked to proclaim their love

Bitten by the love bug, but don't know how to proclaim it? Looking for a way to shout out your undying love for your partner to the world? Ask Lucknow youngsters, and they will tell you that the way to everlasting love is via an everlasting tattoo. When Saif Ali Khan tattooed 'Kareena' on his forearm, we thought he'd lost it, but then, Hrithik Roshan did the same. Now toh, Sanjay Dutt's wife has also tattooed 'Sanjay' on her ring finger. Trend toh banta hai na? And where there's a trend, can Lucknow be far behind? And so, aaj kal, many lovelorn youths of the city find themselves in a tattoo parlour, immortalizing their love with a splash of ink. Seen as the ultimate show of affection, the love-smitten young population of the city has no qualms in going that extra mile to get a permanent stamp on their relationship.

Says Shruti Singh, a 21-year old arts student, "I'm very possessive about my boyfriend. I want him to get my name tattooed so that everybody knows that he belongs to me." And Shruti's boyfriend is more than willing to give in to her wish as he believes that it would make her feel "more secure" about him.

Clinical psychologist Dr Shweta Tandon feels that such a trend has got more to do with one's own feelings of insecurity than the partner's. "Getting a partner's name tattooed gives the person a false feeling of security. They feel that since they've got their partner's name tattooed, he/she is going to stay with him/her forever. It's got more to do with overcoming their personal feelings of insecurity. Youngsters today fail to realise that there are more important things like mutual trust and care that sustain a relationship," she says, adding, "Peer pressure is also a major cause behind such a trend. With so many people doing it today, youngsters feel compelled to follow the trend."

Inked, my love!
Samar Khanna*, a 22-year old law student took to tattoos to proclaim his love for his now ex-girlfriend. "I was 17 when I got the tattoo done for my then girlfriend. I got the first alphabet of her name tattooed on the nape of my neck. That time, it wasn't so much a trend, so she was completely taken aback. Now that I have broken up with her, I've got the tattoo reworked upon," says Samar.

While Samar wasn't shy to sport his love tattoo, Shikhar Arora* chose to be more discreet. "I was in love with this girl during my engineering days. We were in a long-distance relationship and things were pretty unstable between us. To show my commitment towards her, I got her name tattooed on my thigh. That was because the tattoo was extremely personal and just for her. I did not want to show it around to the world," says Shikhar, a 23-year old management student.

Rashi Kapoor*, a marketing executive, got her tattoo done to surprise her fiance. "Guys do not expect girls to be so forthcoming in showing their love for their partners. Moreover, they feel that girls very easily ditch their partners. So, to prove to my fiance that I'm completely committed to him, I got his name tattooed on my lower waist on his birthday. It was a surprise for him," says Rashi.

Artistes' speak
Tattoo artistes in the city confirm the trend. "We do about 100-150 tattoos per month, out of which 50% are love tattoos. Typically, youngsters between the age group of 16-25 years are the ones who follow this trend. They get tattoos done that cost anywhere between `1500 to `6000," says Sana Khan, owner of T4 Tattoos, a tattoo parlour in the city.
Tattoo artiste at Replay, Mudit Mohan, adds, "Lately, we have seen a huge spurt in the number ofcouples coming together to get each other's names tattooed. I do about 30 such tattoos in a month. The most common designs are ambigrams. The name is flipped and entwined in a design, so that makes it difficult to read. So, all those who want to get the names tattooed but are afraid of societal pressure, opt for such designs. Also, writing the names in Urdu is a very common trend. Most of these youngsters choose to get their tattoos on their wrists, just like Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan."

Parents say
While the youngsters may be all up for it, parents are not very appreciative of this trend. "I have nothing against tattoos in general, but getting your girlfriend or boyfriend's name tattooed is extending it too far. These days, 99.9% relationships of youngsters are not serious. So, I don't see the point in getting stuck with a mark of your current relationship that will stay with you for life," says Vikram Maniktala, father of a 19-year old boy.

My father is my superhero: Hrithik Roshan

Actor Hrithik Roshan, who will be seen as a superhero in his filmmaker father's movie 'Krrish 3', says his dad is his superhero.

Hrithik also credited his father with popularising the superhero genre in Bollywood with theKrrish franchise, which started with Koi Mil Gaya.

"I am thankful to my dad. If he didn't exist, there would have been no superhero genre in Indian cinema. He has broken all the barriers and has made it possible. This is because of the power of his conviction. For me, my father is my superhero, "Hrithik told reporters at the launch of Krrish 3 merchandise.

Asked if his own sons look up to him as their superhero, Hrithik said: "I always hope that they see me as superhero. Being a father is the biggest chance and opportunity to be a superhero in your life."

Krrish 3, releasing in November, also features Vivek OberoiPriyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut.

Hrithik Roshan to induct men's jeweler line

Naysayers be damned. Farah Khan Ali, who was the first to tweet her indignation at the rumours of marital discord in her sister Susanne's life, is turning out to be helluvafighter.

The jewellery designer is launching her new collection this Saturday at her Bandra store and has apparently roped in bro-in-law Hrithik Roshan to do the honours. Yes, it's a men's line, and the feisty Farah is well aware that she will have more pairs of eyes on her than usual.

Hrithik Roshan flaunts his sizzling dead body

Any fitness regimen is incomplete if one does not eat the right food at the right time and Hrithik made pretty sure he did not make this mistake of not eating right. He hired Marika Johansson as his diet consultant. The very first change he had to make was to have frequent smaller meals rather than three large meals. In order to make sure he ate nutritious food, she came up with unique recipes like protein muffins and healthy meatballs which Hrithik gorged on while filming Krrish 3. (Read: Hrithik Roshan’s diet secrets)
He ate 7-8 meals in a day, each of which consisted of very simple food in the right ratio. His meals had good protein sources (chicken, beef, egg whites, fish and protein shakes) and good carb sources (brown rice, sweet potatoes, oats, whole wheat pasta).  He also consumed healthy fats such as omega oils and nuts. (Read: Exclusive: Hrithik’s Krrish 3 diet recipe)
All in all, Hrithik did put in a lot of efforts to get into this shape and the results are wonderful. Now that you know his fitness secrets, you too can follow this path of getting healthy and fit the right way.

How Hrithik Roshan transformed his body

Most people think our stars are born lucky with some sort of magical genetic material that gives them rock hard abs, bulging biceps and narrow waists. The truth is that just like us they face the trials and tribulations of staying fit and living a healthy lifestyle. If there’s one actor in this country who’s synonymous with fitness it’s Hrithik Roshan. Here’s an excerpt from Kris Gethin’s book The Bodybuilding.com: Guide to Your Best Body which gives us a rare glimpse into the actor’s fitness regime:
Since his breakthrough role in the 2000 film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, box office heartthrob Hrithik Roshan has dazzled audiences with his athleticism and good looks. Famous for his physique, he has made a career out of playing characters with washboard abs (but tender hearts). But in 2011, at the height of his box office success, he found himself feeling tired, out of shape, and in physical pain. It all started, he said, when he hurt his back a few years ago. ‘I was lying supine on my bed for months and feeding off all the love of my family in the form of brownies and cupcakes, chocolate and all that,’ he said. ‘Everyone kept sending it because I was sick.
Eventually, when I got up, I had a 91 cm waist. I was suffering from blood pressure, high and low: one day high, one day low. ‘I was living off the myth of being the fittest guy, because that is what I’ve become symbolic of in my country,’ he said. But when it came time for a wardrobe fitting for his new movie, the truth came out. ‘I called for my superhero jacket, the Krrish jacket, and I couldn’t get that on. . . . I was, like, ‘I’m not meant to play this right now. I’m not the guy who is worthy enough to play a superhero. I need to get myself worthy enough. I need to make a change.’
That’s when Roshan decided to search for help. ‘I was smoking three packs a day. I had been smoking for the last two-and-a-half years now; everything was just going the wrong way. I knew that if I didn’t put a stop to it now, it was going to take over my life. That was going to be my downfall.’ It was at this low point that he met Kris Gethin, who gave him a whole new way to think about nutrition and fitness—the Body by Design plan.Gethin’s  book, The Bodybuilding.com Guide to Your Best Body had recently been published. Roshan read it.
‘I was very impressed,’ he said. ‘I saw some potential there. Also perhaps it was a sign from God that his name was Kris and I was training for Krrish, which is the name of my people’s hero. I figured we might as well try this out.’ The rest is history. Gethin went to India to train intensively with Roshan, even though he didn’t have a clue that he was training one of the country’s biggest film stars. ‘He didn’t know from Adam who I was, and neither did he care,’ says Roshan. ‘All he cared about was if I was committed enough before he came down to Mumbai. Once he was satisfied, that was it.’ Roshan knew right away that he didn’t just want a quick fix crash diet to look good for a movie role. That’s not what the Body by Design plan is all about. ‘I’d done that before in my life. I’d gotten into the best shape. [Then] I’d go back to all the wrong ways, eating chocolates and letting myself go. I knew that this wasn’t just getting into shape for a character. This was something I wanted; it had to be a lifestyle change. It had to be something that would last me all my life.’ So they began, incorporating the vigorous twelve-week fitness program into Roshan’s life.
The results were immediate and dramatic. ‘I look at myself and I am amazed that something like this is possible. It was a twelve-week transformation, but we completed it in ten weeks. ‘I’m just amazed at the possibilities of the human body and how easy it was. There was no sacrifice. Everything just flowed. I was loving my meals. They were nutritious as well as tasty. I don’t think I can go back to ‘normal’ (if I can say ‘normal’) kinds of food again, where it’s just about taste and not about nutrition. Today, Hrithik Roshan is on a mission to share his own experience in getting healthy. It feels great, and it’s due to his own hard work, as well as to Kris Gethin and the Body by Design plan. ‘I’m eager and almost desperate to make people aware of what all is possible. People need to get educated where all this is concerned. There’s just this scarcity of information. People are lost, and here is the best help that exists on the planet. I am living proof of that.’

Hrithik Roshan's trainer says

When Hrithik Roshan's trainer says four weeks is all it takes to transform your body, you better believe it
Satyajit Chaurasia, the man who trained Aamir Khan for Ghajini and is currently working with actor Hrithik Roshan is making you a promise. You will lose between eight to 10 kg of weight, and gain 1.5 to 2 kg lean muscle if you take his advice. We got Chaurasia to design a 30-day workout that he says can transform the way your body looks by up to 40 per cent. "Getting fit isn't difficult, especially if you are not training to compete in a body building contest. Most people falter with diet and consistency. A little discipline is all it takes and your body will do all the work for you," he claims.

Mini Biography
Often described as India's 'most complete actor', Hrithik Roshan is the culmination of old Hindi film industry from both sides of his pedigree.

His maternal grandfather - director-producer J. Om Prakash - first introduced little Hrithik onscreen at age 6 by slyly having his crew shoot without the boy's knowledge as he danced on the set of Aasha (1980) while visiting grandpa. J. Om Prakash later gave young Hrithik his only actual speaking role as a child, directing him in the key role of Rajnikanth's adopted son in Bhagwaan Dada (1986).

Paternal grandfather Roshan Lal Nagrath - the original "Roshan" - was a gifted classical musician and famous composer who as music director in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s helped define the emerging Bollywood film song. He died before Hrithik was born. But even Hrithik's grandmother - variously credited as "Ira Nagrath" and "Ira Roshan" - is herself a musician-composer who completed her husband's films at Roshan's death and continued for many years as assistant music director on her son's projects - Hrithik's uncle, multiple Filmfare Award winning composer Rajesh Roshan.

Hrithik's father - Rakesh Roshan - entered the film industry as an assistant to J. Om Prakash before shifting to actor, a successful leading man in such films as Khubsoorat (1980). Rakesh later organised the family film company, FilmKraft Productions (India) Pvt. Ltd., first as producer and later director.

Meanwhile Hrithik graduated from Mumbai's prestigious Bombay Scottish School and took a Bachelor of Commerce degree first class from Sydenham College. He turned down a UCLA master's degree scholarship to enter films. To learn the craft of film from the ground up, from Khel (1992) through Koyla (1997) Hrithik toiled as a largely uncredited assistant on the family's film projects, gradually progressing from such unglamourous tasks as set-sweeping, tea-fetching, or clapper-loading up to a major role in story development, camera, direction, and editing. All the while Hrithik studied acting, dance, martial arts, and even bodybuilding (having always been hopelessly thin) to prepare himself to become a film actor.

14 January 2000: Hrithik Roshan's resultant debut film, Kaho Naa ... Pyaar Hai, not only firmly established Hrithik as dramatic hero, romantic hero, and action hero, but actually revolutionised the Hindi film industry in significant ways.

Through unparallelled work ethic and sheer honesty, talent, and commitment as an actor, Hrithik has parlayed the natural gift of symmetrical features and a tall athletic frame into hitherto unimaginable standards. He effectively redefined the Hindi film hero. Short, fat, ugly guys no longer need apply. Likewise, actors with limited dramatic range, or those lacking commitment to work. Lead actors would now have to act and dance and fight for themselves as never before. Existing stars either adapted to the new standard, as Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan did, or went into decline, such as Govinda.

In the years since Kaho Naa ... Pyaar Hai Hrithik has never looked back, always continually pushing himself in new directions. Thus he has achieved critical, commercial, and award-winning success with roles as diverse as a charming but braindamaged child-adult, Koi ... Mil Gaya (2003), an enigmatic master thief, Dhoom 2 (2006), a quadriplegic, Guzaarish (2010), India's first film superhero, Krrish (2006), and even the moghul emperor Akbar the Great himself, Jodhaa Akbar (2008).

Hrithik married his childhood sweetheart and longtime girlfriend, successful interior designer and businesswoman Sussanne Khan (herself from a Hindi film clan), in December 2000. They have two sons: Hrehaan, born 2006, and Hridaan, born 2008.

I know I am good at my job, and I am sure I will be damn good one day but right now, I also know how bad I can be."

(July 2006): One mistake we always make is to ape the West. We attempt films that we think they will like. The true crossover films areCrouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2003) (VG) and Life Is Beautiful (2000), where the director goes entirely by his conviction, culture, community and conditioning. I am hoping, not just for me and my father and family, but for Indian cinema that Krrish (2006) will succeed, so we can envision an even bigger extravaganza. We want to afford that freedom to take our cinema higher. I believe we are very close now to getting noticed on a world platform.
I was always the pet of my teachers in school probably because I was considered to be very cute. Because of my innocent looks I usually got away with a lot of mischief. I was spoilt and pampered by everyone. All I had to do was sport a lost-boy look and I would have things my way. At home too, if I wasn't given something I wanted, I would simply sit with a long face till I got it.
On his first villain role in Dhoom:2 (2006): "I've played the good guy long enough. Now it's time for me to get seriously evil. I always wanted to play a cool villain. And since the bad guy in Dhoom:2 (2006) is multi-dimensional, playing this nightmarish guy is a dream come true".
(December 2006): If someone pretends not to recognize me, then he needs to get a life.
On his infamous kiss with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Dhoom:2 (2006): "I did give it a lot of thought. There was enough reason and inspiration here to go ahead. I tried to make it as beautiful as possible. And I stand by it completely" (April 2007).
I have met quite a few quadriplegic patients and their families (while researching his role for [i]Guzaarish[/i]). There is a lot of pain and suffering that they go through. The extent of that we can never really understand. But what is amazing is that, though they have all these problems in their lives, never is there one moment when they are not smiling. And that is a lesson that I think is a gift that I received from them, and a gift that I think you all will receive from this movie.
They say that many people come in your life, but some leave a footprint on your heart after which your life is never the same again. For me it is not a person, it is a movie. [i]Guzaarish[/i] has changed the way I see the world. It has given a whole new perspective to my life.
(November 2010): [Guzaarish] teaches you how to truly Live and enjoy and be happy -- wherever you are, whoever you are, with whatever problems you have.
(November 2010): This movie [Guzaarish] didn't just help me grow as an actor, it made me grow as a person. And I can't thank Sanjay Leela Bhansali enough for that.
(June 2010 - Q: "Don't you perceive [when dancing] that you are doing something that is really special?") It's not that I am the best dancer, but it looks good when I dance because I have these really narrow feet and my centre of gravity is really high, which gives the illusion of tipping over, an illusion that makes every step look better when I do it. That's the only way I can analyse it.
(June 2010 -- Q on dance and acting) I am an actor and dance is one of the things I do, one of the expressions of my acting. Like sometimes I have a tear in my eye, sometimes I say fast dialogues, sometimes I jump off buildings, and sometimes I dance. If one expression is appreciated more than the other, then that's somebody's point of view. I don't consider dance my forte. I do it like I do everything else -- struggle to make it my best.
(July 2011) I believe that if you're going to risk your life and jump off a building, you bloody well should make it look convincing. Unless you are honest during moments of physical intimacy, you will appear uncomfortable and guilty on screen. When you see the lead pair in an English movie kissing, it's rarely offensive or 'a bit much'. That's because of the conviction in their performance.
(July 2011) My last proper vacation was in 2003. I need another.
[February 2008 - describing his character Akbar's relationship with his empress, Jodhaa] His first attraction is not one of love or lust or one of those. Somewhere I think he believes in her strength, her strength as an individual.
[July 2012 - honored with his wife, businesswoman Sussanne Khan Roshan, as 'India's premier power couple'] The whole idea of two people being one and loving as one is all wrong. You have to accept the other person as an individual and love each other as two individuals. Stand apart and love. Be unafraid to give and receive love as an individual.
[recalling, in 2009 as an adult and successful actor, his childhood battle to overcome a crippling stammer] I suffered with a speech problem, and it took me a long, long, long time. It's been the hardest kind of struggle for someone who wants to be an actor. But I got the help at the right time, and now I'm -- here. So miracles do happen! I want to tell all the families out there, the children who are struggling and living without hope, to just believe enough -- and look at me. You can change your life!
